Besides creating a sustainable environment for stakeholders and the society we work and live in, we also incorporate economic performance, environmental and social responsibility into our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy.

Our strategy is to reduce our impact on the environment where possible, protect our personnel, and generally improve the way we operate. This positively influences and impacts on all aspects of how we work and conduct our business.

One of the ways we have instituted this approach is through ONE Westley, an initiative that has strengthened how we communicate internally.

ONE Westley is how we build a community across the wider Westley Group. It’s a place where everyone has access to company updates and news, and ensures we’re all pulling in ONE direction.

Whilst we’ve incorporated robust economic performance, and the creation of sustainable value for all our stakeholders into our CSR strategy, we place equal emphasis on the environmental and social governance (ESG) of how we operate.

This has enabled us to define a profitable model that provides long-term value for our stakeholders, our people and our planet. By improving how we operate, we’re protecting both our business as well as the environment.

Solar Technology

We have already been purchasing a significant amount of our energy from renewable sources since 2012.

We want to support this initiative with our own, in-house renewable energy.

This investment in renewable energy sources will see solar technology installed across all our main sites wherever possible.

Our sites will have solar power technology installed with the aim of generating another significant amount of our total energy needs from solar power by 2024.

SHIFT

We are founding members of the UK Safety & Health Foundry Targets Initiative (SHIFT).

Designed and managed by the UK foundry industry, it’s a scheme to share knowledge and best practice across the industry to drive down the rate and seriousness of accidents in foundries and associated metals businesses.

It ensures that health and safety attains the prominence it deserves, focusing on a broad range of topics from risk assessment, manual handling, slips, trips and falls, to safe systems of work through to occupational health issues such as respirable crystalline silica, legionella, HAV’s and mental health.

Members not only share best practice but also statistics on health and safety so that effective benchmarking can be achieved leading to the promotion of health and safety improvement initiatives across the Group.
